Marriage records [microform], 1840-1902.

Marriage certificates signify that the marriage occurred. The certificate was completed by the minister or judge and then given to the marrying couple. Marriage registers or ministers' returns were filed with the county clerk within twelve months after the minister or public official performed the ceremony.

Kenton County was formed in 1840 from Campbell County and named for Simon Kenton. It has two county seats, Independence and Covington, both in existence since the 1850s.
